Hard Drive Failure

As the storage capacity of hard drives increase so does the impact of when they fail. Face it, the more you store on a computer hard drive the greater your exposure. Hard drives can fail for a variety of reasons: electrical, mechanical, logical, or the firmware fails…often hard drives fail due to a combination of those. The end result is still the same—your data is partially or completely gone.

External hard drives are no different. They are just as susceptible to the threats posed to computer hard drives but can also be damaged by accidentally dropping them on the floor, frayed electrical cables, mismatched power cords, and power surges. Online backup avoids these potential problems and keeps your data safe and protected.
